MANILA—Bacolod pulled off a crucial shocker in the MPBL Lakan Season after downing Basilan, 96-89, on Saturday night at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

Bacolod came alive in the final three quarters, outscoring Basilan, 78-61, to overcome a 10-point first quarter deficit. The most critical span came in the third canto, where Bacolod held Basilan to just 14 points.

With the victory, Bacolod kept its hopes of making the playoffs alive with a 9-16 record, four games behind Bicol for the eighth seed in the Southern Division, but Coach Vic Ycasiano is not thinking about the postseason yet.

"We're not thinking of our chances. What we're doing right now is to play and enjoy also to win as much as we can," said Ycasiano.

Pao Javelona led Bacolod with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block, while Mar Villahermosa came off the bench to tally 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Yankee Haruna chipped in 14 points, 12 rebounds, and one block, while Jerick Cañada also had 14 markers with three caroms, eight dimes, and two swipes off the bench. Ben Adamos put 11 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and one block.

Allyn Bulanadi's career high 33 points with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal went down the drain as Basilan failed to virtually tie GenSan for the third seed in the South and instead let Zamboanga get a share of the fourth spot at 16-10.
