QUEZON CITY--Meralco's bid for its first ever PBA title suffered a huge hit on Sunday night when Raymond Almazan injured his left knee early into Game 3 of the Governors' Cup against Ginebra at the Smart Araneta Coliseum here.

Almazan had a bad landing while going for a layup with 6:10 left in the first quarter of the said game.

Almazan was quickly rushed to the Bolts' dugout for first aid, and Team Manager Paolo Trillo said that the six-foot-seven center is taking painkillers. Almazan's status for the remainder of the game is uncertain.

Ginebra was leading Meralco, 18-7, before the Almazan injury, but since then, the latter slowly crawled back and even took the lead late in the second quarter before a three-point play from Justin Brownlee put the former back up, 43-42, at halftime.
