MANILA—GenSan pulled away late into its MPBL Lakan Season match against Pasay for a 76-69 win at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay on Wednesday night.

In a crucial showdown that could determine their playoff fates, the Warriors recovered from a bad first quarter and an early blitz from the Voyagers in the fourth en route to a pivotal road win that strengthened their hold of the third seed in the Southern Division standings.

Looking to keep its postseason hopes alive, Pasay shut GenSan down in the first quarter, holding its visitor to just nine points while taking a 12-point lead to the second.

The Warriors, however, came alive in the next two periods, outscoring the Voyagers, 49-34, to up, 58-55, entering the fourth canto.

After Al Carlos opened the final frame with a three-pointer to up GenSan's lead to six, 61-55, Pasay went on an 8-0 run to go ahead, 63-61, with 6:47 remaining.

But after an exchange of baskets from Pamboy Raymundo and Raymond Ilagan, the Warriors went on a game turning 9-1 run to seal the victory away at home.

"Naniniwala kasi ako na laging mayroong isang quarter na nakalaan para sa amin, thankfully, the boys stuck to the gameplan and played hard-nosed defense. That's what we prepared the past week," GenSan's interim coach Ramon Pido said post-game.

Raymundo finished with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal for the Warriors, who are now at 16-8, breaking a virtual tie with the Basilan Steel. Robby Celiz added 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and one block.

Ron Lastimosa put up 16 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block for the Voyagers, who failed to tie the Val City Classic for the eighth spot in the Northern Division and instead fall a full game behind at 13-12.
