MANILA--Mikey Williams came alive for Mighty Sports as the team repulsed Beirut Sports Club, 91-77, in the Dubai International Basketball Championship at the Shabab Al-Ahli Club early Wednesday (Philippine Time).
With Andray Blatche and Renaldo Balkman usually leading the way for Mighty Sports, it was Williams' turn to erupt for the Philippine team, dropping 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting and six triples.
Mighty Sports, however, nearly blew the game up early on as Beirut launched a 14-2 run at the end of the first quarter to turn a 10-19 deficit to a 24-21 lead.
Mighty Sports slowed Beirut down in the second quarter, holding its Lebanese opponent to just 13 points, before the team broke loose with a 33-point third quarter.
Williams also had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in the Mighty Sports win that moved the team up to 4-0 in the tournament. Balkman added 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, one block, and two steals.
Jerom Johnson dropped 30 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals for Beirut.
