Pasay inches closer to sealing MPBL playoff spot with home rout over Makati

PASAY—The Pasay Voyagers drew nearer to completing the cast in the MPBL Northern Division Playoffs after tripping the Makati Skyscrapers at home, 79-61, at the Cuneta Astrodome on Tuesday night.

Pasay slowly took control of the game and went full throttle in the third quarter, holding Makati to just 11 points to take 57-41 lead entering the fourth.

The Skyscrapers tried to pull off a comeback, cutting the lead down to just nine, 68-59, with 2:34 left, but the Voyagers ended the game on an 11-2 run to seal the win.

Axel Inigo led Pasay, which moved up to 16-12, with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

Jaypee Belencion added 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal off the bench, while Dhon Reverente chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.

The team is now a full game ahead of Caloocan (15-13) for the eighth spot in the Northern Division with two games left for each team.

Jeckster Apinan chipped in 18 markers, five boards, three dimes, and three swipes, while Ced Ablaza added 17 points, 10 caroms, one dime, and one block for Makati, which fell to 21-7, basically locking in the third seed in the North playoffs.
