MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Football Federation and Qatar Airways sealed the latter's sponsorship deal for the next three years for the Philippines Football League.
The partnership paves the way for the airlines to be the title sponsor and the airline partner of the PFL from 2020 until 2022.
The signing was held at the Qatar Airways headquarters in Doha, Qatar on Sunday with PFF secretary-general Atty. Edwin Gastanes signing the agreement along with the chief executive of the Qatar Airways Group, His Excellency Akbar Al Baker.
The partnership with Qatar Airways, which has been an avid supporter of football - having been the official partner of FIFA events such as the 2018 World Cup in Russia, 2019 Club World Cup in Qatar and the upcoming 2022 World Cup, also in Qatar, aims to put football prominence in the Philippines through marketing thrusts of the airline that includes on-ground and online brand integration and live TV coverage of some matches of the PFL.
"We thank Qatar Airways for their willingness to help bolster the Philippine football by establishing a partnership with PFF as Airline Partner and Title Sponsor of the PFL. The PFF, together with Qatar Airways, will pave the way in forging the sustainability of professional club football in the country," said PFF president Mariano Araneta, Jr.
The fourth season of the PFL will kick off this March.
