MANILA – The fifth season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League – Philippines (MPL-PH) is set to open on Feb. 29.

The premier competition for professional players of the said mobile game will feature ten teams that will battle it out for the championship and hopes to enter the 2020 MLBB World Championships.

Eight of the 10 teams were directly invited thru rankings of last season’s MPL: defending champions Sunsparks, ONIC PH, SGD Omega, Execration, Bren Esports, Blacklist International, STI, and Geek Fam PH.

The two remaining spots were allocated thru open and main qualifiers, in which GOSU and BSB later secured their places to the main stage among 400 registered teams.

GOSU advanced to the main qualifiers on Saturday with a 2-0 sweep against Nextplay Predator the lower bracket finals, and upsetting top-seeded team Ignite Esports, 2-1.

BSB on the other hand dominated their group, capping their qualification trip with a 2-0 win over Boom Esports on Sunday.

Regular season games will happen on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays up to March 5 and will be streamed live on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Philippines’ official Facebook and YouTube Gaming accounts.
