PASAY--Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua denied that a trade that involves Greg Slaughter is in the works.

The trade rumor is said to have sparked Slaughter's decision to take a break from basketball as he wanted to stay with the Barangay for the upcoming PBA season.

"Kung hindi galing sa amin, huwag kayong maniwala," Chua, also the sports director of the San Miguel Corporation, said during the preseason press conference for the 2020 PBA cagefest at the Conrad Manila Ballroom here on Tuesday.

However, Chua bared that neither he nor Slaughter reached out to the other regarding the latter's concerns.

"I never talked to him, even the entire management," Chua added.

He too shared that Coach Tim Cone was surprised when Slaughter told him during their postseason meeting that he will take a hiatus from the game.

"Medyo nagulat si Tim dahil ang ine-expect niya siguro, kakausapin siya," Chua further quipped. "Hindi pa kami masyadong nag-uusap ni Tim, pero nabasa na lang. May nagsabi sa akin na umalis daw."

In the end, Chua said that he is respecting Slaughter's decision to take a break from basketball.

"That's his decision. He's old enough. Nasa tamang edad na siya para makapag-desisyon kung ano talaga yung pakay niya o what he wants. Respetuhin na lang natin," Chua concluded.
