PASAY--David Carlos successfully defended his MPBL slam dunk championship after another perfect run in the final round of the said contest at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday night.

The professional dunker, currently signed with Makati in the regional league, leaned on one of his usual tricks, a hurdle dunk, to win the final round against Bacoor City's Nick Demusis and Bicol's Chris Lalata.

This time, Carlos dunked over league founder Manny Pacquiao and his son Jimuel, one of the five judges in the contest, along with two others to get the perfect 50 from the younger Pacquiao, MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes, Chooks-To-Go president Ronald Mascarinas, broadcaster Mark Zambrano, and former slam dunk champ Kobe Paras.

Demusis, who tried to score an off-the glass alley-oop from Manny Pacquiao, got 42, while Lalata, who settled for a two-handed reverse, finished with 37.

Initially set for a PHP50,000 top prize, Carlos walked away with a total of PHP100,000 after surprise bonuses were announced.
