PASAY--Now, even FIBA stepped in about the continuous novel coronavirus outbreak.

The international governing body for basketball announced early Friday that the scheduled FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers game between Gilas Pilipinas Men and Thailand will be postponed due to the said outbreak.

In a statement, FIBA said that the Gilas Men-Thailand game, initially scheduled for Thursday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, is among the three games that were called off due to COVID-19.

FIBA also postponed the entirety of the first window assignments of China, where COVID-19 first came from, its road game next Friday at Japan and its home game on Feb. 24 against Malaysia.

FIBA, however, has yet to decide on whether Gilas Men's road game on Feb. 23 against Indonesia will be postponed as well.

The Philippines, Thailand, Japan, and Malaysia now have confirmed cases of COVID-19 as well. The DOH confirmed three cases of COVID-19 here with one casualty.
