Manila - The monumental all-women marathon; Binibining Marathoner has announced its postponement due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday night, the organizers of the run came up with the decision to postpone the run that is supposed to happen on Sunday; March 15.
In the hope to ensure the safety of the registered runners, the organizers of Binibining Marathoner 2020 carefully consulted with the Pasay City LGU in order to come up with the decision.
"We coordinated with the Pasay LGU regarding the run. Wala pa naman sila directive to stop all public activities pero nag-cancel na lahat. Kami na lang daw yung 'last man standing' pero dahil sa pagtaas nun cases ng COVID-19, we really have to follow suit," Coach Seannah Swift, the brainchild of the fun run said in an interview.
The postponement is also in response to the State of Public Health Emergency declared by President Rodrigo Duterte this morning.
The new schedule of the Binibining Marathoner will be announced through their official Facebook page soon.
