QUEZON CITY—PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that the league's board of governors will convene on Tuesday to discuss its plans regarding the novel coronavirus.

"May special board meeting sa Tuesday tungkol dito sa coronavirus," Marcial said during the league's opening ceremonies at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday night.

He added, "Ilalatag ko sa kanila kung ano yung iba't ibang sitwasyon, kung one week or two weeks, one month makita nila ang epekto sa PBA."

Marcial later bared that he may propose to at least hold the upcoming Philippine Cup games behind closed doors.

"Lahat ng options andoon. Nandoon yung option na for 1-2 weeks, for one month, for closed door [games]," he further quipped.

However, Marcial said that he will abide with the DOH's final say, especially if it asks for postponement of games.

"Kung magsasabi naman talaga ang DOH na di pwede, eh hindi talaga natin itutuloy pero itatanong ko muna sa board," he concluded.

The DOH confirmed local transmissions of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, over the weekend, including one here.
