MANILA--Mike Plania introduced himself to the world boxing community anew on Wednesday (Philippine Time) after beating world title contender Joshua Greer in a 10-round action at the MGM Grand Conference Room Grand Ballroom in Las Vegas.

A heavy underdog against the WBO-ranked number one and IBF-ranked number two bantamweight, Plania shocked Greer with a left hook to the head barely a minute into the bout that knocked the latter down.

Plania continued to dominate Greer in the next four rounds eventually and hit another left hook to him just before the end of Round 6.

Sensing urgency, Greer stepped on the gas in the latter rounds, but Plania's early dominance was more than enough to give him the win.

Dave Moretti made many raise their eyebrows after scoring it 94-all, but Patricia Jarman had it 97-91 and Tim Cheatham gave a 96-92 card both favoring Plania for the majority decision victory.

Plania won his ninth consecutive bout since bowing to former world champion Juan Carlos Payano in 2018 and is now at 24-1 overall with 12 knockouts.

Greer, who looked poise to either challenge John Riel Casimero for the WBO belt or Nordine Oubaali for the WBC title, saw his 19-bout winning streak come to an end and fell to 22-2 with one draw and 12 knockouts.
