MANILA--Ranidel De Ocampo finds himself back at his home but this time as an assistant coach.

The recently retired forward makes his way back to TNT as part of its coaching staff.

Team Manager Gabby Cui confirmed the development on Monday night.

"Coach Ranidel brings us a wealth of championship experience and basketball knowledge that will definitely help our team reach our aspirations for another championship," Cui said in a statement.

Drafted fourth overall in the 2004 PBA Draft by the original Air21 franchise, the six-foot-six De Ocampo found a place he called home in TNT, joining the team in 2009 after a blockbuster trade for Don Allado.

De Ocampo turned out to be the big guy the KaTropa needed after he helped them beat the Alaska Aces in the Philippine Cup Finals that year.

He would win five more championships with the PLDT franchise before finishing his career with sister team Meralco.

He also donned the national team colors five times in the senior level, more significantly the 2013 FIBA Asia Cup silver medalist team and the 2014 FIBA World Cup team.

De Ocampo's new role came a few days after the KaTropa let go of Tab Baldwin as their assistant.
