MANILA--San-En NeoPhoenix president Kenjiro Hongo believes his team struck gold after signing Thirdy Ravena.
"Thirdy is the best player in his country, and signing him means a lot to me, and I'm really proud of that," Hongo said on Friday in an online press conference formally introducing Ravena to the team.
Ravena became the first Filipino to be signed to a B.League team after San-En announced his acquisition as it utilized its "Asian Player Quota" on him.

The NeoPhoenix finished with the worst record in the past season, and they look to reverse their fortunes for the next season. They began their buildup by bringing in Ravena.
"We are trying to find a great player to this opportunity, and finally we met Thirdy and we decided to sign him," Hongo added. "He will be a key player this season."
Playing mostly at the wings during his college career, Ravena may end up playing the point guard position as hinted by Hongo.
"He can play as a point guard, so I'm sure he will dominate the game," Hongo further said.
