MANILA--Filipino-Kiwi fighter Mark Abelardo stumbled in One Championship's return to action amid the COVID-19 pandemic, One: No Surrender, losing to debuting Fabricio Andrade on Friday night at the Impact Arena in Bangkok.
In a match held behind closed doors, Abelardo, who has not won via submission since 2013, actually had a decent start, coming close to taking down Andrade twice in the first round.
The Brazilian former muay thai champion, however, successfully stopped Abelardo's takedown attempts even as his solid strikes put him at a solid position.

Abelardo had another opportunity to send Andrade to the ground at the start of the second round, but the latter turned things around and went for a rear naked choke that put Abelardo to sleep at the 1:13 mark of the said round.
Successful in his One debut, Andrade scored his fourth straight win following a 0-2 start to his young mixed martial arts career.
Abelardo, on the other hand, fell to 19-8, losing via submission for the first time in his career.
