MANILA--PBA commissioner Willie Marcial is elated that the IATF finally gave the league the green light to practice again in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Masaya tayo sa development na ito," Marcial said in the league's website on Friday, hours after it was made official.

The approval of the "new normal" practice protocols is deemed to be the first step towards seeing PBA, PFL, and Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3 action again for this year.

With that said, Marcial believes that the PBA is on track of resuming play very soon.

"We're still on track for our scheduled return," he further said.

The PBA looks to resume its 45th season by September or October but only the Philippine Cup may be played this year.

The league's board of governors is expected to convene by next month to decide if the season will continue on or be canceled.
