MANILA--To further prevent anomalies within the agency from happening, the Philippine Sports Commission tweaked its organizational setup on Wednesday during a board meeting.

The PSC named Guillermo Iroy as its interim executive director as a result of the shakeup, while former acting ED Merlita Ibay goes back to her original post as deputy executive director for finance and administrative services.

With Iroy taking a new role, Queenie Evangelista will take over the spot he vacated, the deputy executive director of the Bureau of Coordinating Secretariat and Support Services.

“It was a collective decision of the board as part of a plan to re-stabilize the organization,” PSC chairman Butch Ramirez explained the revamp in a statement.

The shakeup took place in the aftermath of the revelation of a payroll padding scam involving a PSC employee.

According to Ramirez, the reorganization has to take place "to ensure that necessary investigation, correction, and sanction are done."

“As the highest accountable official of the agency, I take responsibility to effect changes, to make sure that there are no gaps in the organization. I feel sad, frustrated, and hurt but we all have to have composure,” he added.

Ramirez further said that he is hoping for the stakeholders and partners to support the PSC's decision to make adjustments to its structure as he hinted for more shakeups to take place within the week.
