MANILA—Right at the conclusion of the online Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum on Tuesday, incumbent Philippine Olympic Committee president Bambol Tolentino revealed his two running mates for the upcoming general election of the said body.
"My first vice president is Al Panlilio of basketball and my second vice president is Richard Gomez of fencing and modern pentathlon," Tolentino said.
Panlilio has been the president of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas since 2016, while Gomez, also the current mayor of Ormoc, has been leading the Philippine Fencing Association and the Philippine Modern Pentathlon Association as their president.
Meanwhile, Tolentino, also the leader for cycling, bared that his ticket for the POC elections "is almost complete" and that he may reveal the full lineup by next week, just before the start of the filing of the certificates of candidacy set on Oct. 1.
Tolentino, the concurrent congressman of the eighth district of Cavite, is seeking reelection as POC president in the general election set on Nov. 27.
Current POC board member Clint Aranas is Tolentino's lone opponent for the organization's top spot.
