MANILA--Caloy Yulo's Olympic training is set to get a huge boost.

Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion-Norton bared on Thursday that the rising star gymnast will receive a ton of money from the Philippine Sports Commission.

"I received the board resolution. They're giving me PHP3 million," Norton said in the online Usapang Sports forum by the Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports.

She added that she lobbied for PHP4 million but eventually settled for the agreed amount.

"At least we have PHP3 million to start with," Norton further quipped. "Maybe they'll give us [the other PHP1 million] later."

Dugout Philippines tried to confirm the development to PSC, but anyone from the agency has yet to reply.

However, Yulo's camp may still need more.

"Right now, Coach Muni [Kugemiya] gave me another budget. You know how much now? PHP 6 million," Norton further bared.

She said that Yulo, who is currently in Japan, has been training in two venues just for him to keep his Olympic gear-up in full scale amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which is costly enough.

"Lots of work for this Olympic gold medal," Norton sighed.
