MANILA--Reigning PFL champion United City expressed its support to the Department of Health for its campaign against COVID-19.

Team owner Eric Gottschalk said on Thursday that the former Ceres Negros franchise has actually begun implementing the "BIDA Solusyon" drive in the members' daily lives.

"We at United City Football Club, including our staff and our players, have committed to support the BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19 campaign of the Department of Health by implementing the four BIDA principles into our daily routines," Gottschalk said in a statement.

United City is the first sports team to publicly support the said campaign.

“It is our responsibility as a football club to contribute to society, and we thank the DOH for allowing us to become the first professional sports team in the Philippines to join hands and to support BIDA. This is such an important initiative, and we as a club will do everything we can to support the cause, and we hope that this will encourage many more sports teams and athletes to support their campaign,” Gottschalk continued.

Health secretary Francisco Duque expressed his gratitude to United City, saying, "We hope to partner with more organizations like United City FC in providing the public with the right information they need to stay safe and protected against COVID-19."

In the BIDA Solusyon drive, DOH is reminding the public that "Bawal ang walang mask, I-sanitize ang mga kamay, Dumistansya ng isang metro, at Alamin ang totoong impormasyon."

United City players are doing the said protocols before, during, and after training at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona.
