MANILA--Many PBA fans, particularly fans of Phoenix wingman Calvin Abueva, have already found the period of the ban the league slapped on him too long already.

It has been 15 months already since the PBA meted Abueva with an indefinite suspension after a series of unsportsmanlike conducts he committed during the 2019 Commissioner's Cup, and the clamor of him coming back is growing.

However, Commissioner Willie Marcial on Tuesday asked the fans to understand the current situation the league and Abueva are in.

"Kung nagagalit po kayo sa akin, pasensya muna po. Ito po ay sa kabutihan po ng lahat," Marcial said during the press launch of the PBA bubble.

He further said that he has been communicating with Abueva regarding the requirements he has to accomplish for the ban to finally be lifted.

However, Marcial was tight-lipped on the possibility that the sanction may be lifted just before the PBA restart on Oct. 11.

"Ayokong mag-commit," he further said.

However, Marcial hinted that it is possible that Phoenix may bring Abueva into the bubble while it is ongoing.

"Tignan natin kung sasama si Calvin sa bubble," the commissioner further said.
