WNBL Draft deadline moved to Tuesday

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA—The WNBL Draft has become a highly anticipated one that the league decided to have the application closed sooner than expected.

The country's first professional women's basketball league announced on Monday night that it is closing the draft applications by Tuesday.

"We were compelled to make this decision due to the heavy turnout of application," the WNBL said in a statement.

More than 600 lady ballers have declared for the draft set for late October as of posting, probably the highest turnout in all of Philippine club basketball.

The WNBL initially set the draft application deadline on Friday.

Like its male counterpart, the NBL, the WNBL is functioning as a home-and-away league, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, both regional leagues will hold their seasons inside a bubble at the Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
