Late clutch play pushes Execration past Cignal Ultra in MPL-PH S6 QFs

MANILA - It took five long games, but one team stand strong against a worthy opponent.

Execration's late game clutch play in Game 5 sends them to the semifinals of MPL-PH Season 6 after a close affair with Cignal Ultra to open the playoffs.

With Cignal Ultra likely to take the only sanctuary lord of the crucial rubber match, Ch4knu's Baxia started bothering all but Esmeralda before Bennyqt's Claude and Hate's Helcurt arrived and execute Tsujin's Wanwan and Hadess' Harith.

With the two Cignal Ultra cores out for more than half a minute, S4gitnu's Uranus went straight to Cignal Ultra's base to end the series with no one to defend as all other three members were too far away from the scene.

It was a close series to begin with, as Cignal Ultra broke the streak of Execration taking over games lasting for more than 18 minutes in the first game as they finished the latter in 31 minutes, one of the longest games this season.

Execration snowballed the next two games thanks to Hate's 4/2/6 performance in Game 2 with his Harith and Chaknu's Jawhead having a 2/2/4 performance in Game 3, taking the series 2-1 for the former.

Cignal Ultra forced a rubber match after pulling another long game, with the deadly combo of Rhea's Leomord and Tsujin's Angela doing most of the damage with a combined ten kills and 17 assists while negating Hate's impact with his Lancelot, who only tallied a kill and three assists while dying six times.

Execration will set themselves in a semifinals match against the winner of the best-of-five series between Omega Esports and Blacklist International.
