Meralco recovers in Q4 to down Alaska

MANILA--Meralco got its rhythm back just in time as the team repulsed Alaska, 93-81, in their PBA game at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center on Wednesday night.

The Bolts recovered in the fourth quarter just when the Aces tried to turn things around in the third to score their first win of the season.

Just when Meralco looked to be pulling away after opening a 49-35 halftime lead, Alaska opened the third quarter on a 17-3 run to force a 52-all tie.

The Bolts regained control later in the third after finishing the period on a 13-6 rally to reopen a 65-58 advantage before pulling away for good with a 12-0 run to start the fourth.

Allein Maliksi put up 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block off the bench for Meralco.

Baser Amer added 15 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

Jeron Teng torched for 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting, seven rebounds, two assists, and one steal, but it was not enough as Alaska fell to 0-2.
