MANILA--Apparently feeling the effects of the long layoff, Rey Nambatac played subpar on Tuesday night for Rain Or Shine against San Miguel.

But with the game--and even their possession-- on the line, Nambatac buried the shot that mattered the most for the Elasto Painters.

Nambatac scored his lone field goal, a booming triple with the shotclock winding down, to help his team hold off the Beermen, 87-83, in the PBA bubble at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.

With ROS just up by one, 82-81, Nambatac recovered the loose ball after SMB nearly got a steal off a double team and released his three-pointer with 12.9 seconds remaining on the game clock.

Terrence Romeo kept the Beermen in the game with a short jumper that cut the lead to two, 85-83, with 1.8 seconds to go.

However, Chris Ross nudged Javee Mocon while going for the steal with 1.4 seconds left, giving the latter the chance to seal the win with two free throws.

Mocon led the Elasto Painters, who preserved a hot 15-0 start, with 25 points on 7-of-9 field goals and 8-of-8 free throws with six rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Kris Rosales stepped up in Nambatac's early struggles with 15 points, six rebounds, and one assist.

Marcio Lassiter had 20 points, four rebounds, one assist, and two steals for the Beermen, who fell to 1-1 in the season.

Mo Tautuaa made 17 markers, 11 boards, and five dimes as his team is reeling from the absence of star center June Mar Fajardo.
