Omega nips Execration in close rubber match

by Drew Malihan

MANILA - Omega PH finishes their regular season in a winning note as they eke past Execration, two games to one, in Week 8 of MPL-PH Season 6.

Hadjizy's Ling led Omega in the first game as they dominated Execration 11-3, with help from Toshi's Freya and Haze's Selena while running a two-tank combo.

Omega prevailed all throughout the 13-minute match, getting most of the turrets and buffs for the team while claiming a sanctuary lord in their favor.

Execration returned the favor, needing just almost 16 minutes as they dealt Omega a 20-11 beating in the second game.

Thanks to the teams more melee-oriented lineup of Chou, Helcurt, Khufra, Jawhead, and Alice, Execration pounced on misplays while executing their own team fights to a more fragile Omega quintet.

Hate's Helcurt dealt most of the damage, contributing on 75% of total Execration kills.

Both teams engaged to a dog fight in the rubber match for a sure two points in the bag while fielding balanced lineups.

Execration and Omega put themselves in a rather slow-paced game, going tow to toe with turrets and objectives.

But with Execration pushing in the mid-lane, Kenji toppled the inhibitor turret in the top lane, prompting Execration to defend instead.

Haze's Luo Yi two clutch teleports also made wonders for Omega as they slayed Bennyqt and Hate in the first and saving himself and Hadjizy in the second against S4gitnu.

From there, outplays came in favor of Omega as they forced Execration to play defense and eventually  getting things done thanks to the third charging lord.

Hadjizy claimed MVP in the 25-minute match with his 8/2/7 KDA as Omega grabbed two points, 19-15.

Execration ended their regular season with 25 points and a 7-6 slate, while Omega will enter the playoffs with a 9-4 record and 27 points.
