MANILA--Phoenix stunned Magnolia in the fourth quarter to steal a 91-84 comeback win in their PBA match at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center on Friday night.
Just when the Hotshots are about to pull away after opening a 17-point cushion in the third quarter, the Fuel Masters came alive in the first 10 and a half minutes of the final frame, outscoring the Hotshots, 29-9, to take an 89-80 lead with 1:35 to play.
Magnolia tried to pull off a comeback of its own after scoring four straight points to cut the lead to five, 89-84, with 1:16 left, but that was all the team could crawl back.
Matt Wright, despite his struggles from the three-point area, top scored for Phoenix with 23 points, making 10-of-14 from inside the arc, seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Jason Perkins added a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds with one assist as the team snapped a two-game slide and moved up to 3-2 in the standings.
Chris Banchero made 20 markers of his own with one rebound, one assist, and two steals for Magnolia, which lost its third straight game and fell to 1-4.
