ADT stuns Mendiola on late 2nd half attack

Jarvey Gayoso's header eventually won it for the ADT. PFL

MANILA--When Kenry Bayobo got a piece of Marvin Angeles' penalty kick and the latter's follow-up hit the post before the Mendiola defender cleared the ball out of danger just before halftime, many thought the Azkals Development Team may be denied of the elusive first win in the PFL bubble season.

But come the second half, the ADT was unstoppable.

The Nationals finished the job within the final 18 minutes to edge Mendiola, 2-0, on Tuesday at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona.

Despite being designated by Azkals coach Scott Cooper to the leftback spot, former striker Jarvey Gayoso showed that he remains a top gunner for the ADT, heading the club's first goal in the 73rd minute.

Gayoso had a chance to go for the brace with a free kick from the left edge of the penalty box in the 81st minute, but Bayobo somehow got back at him by saving the ball.

However, the ball landed at the foot of Matt Custodio, who drilled it back in for the eventual final count.

With the win, the ADT avenged its late collapse against Mendiola that denied the squad a spot in last year's Copa Paulino Alcantara semifinals.
