Aura PH |
MANILA - The MPL-PH El Clasico is now in the books.
Aura Philippines closes the sister warfare in their favor after a heated three-game series against Indonesia's Aura Fire in the second day of ONE Esports MPL Invitational on Saturday.
With former Cignal Ultra core Hadess and Execration's Bennyqt in Aura's colors, captain Rafflesia decided to sit down in all three games.
It was the Aura vets who showed their might in Game 1 as Jaypee teamed up with a core in Harith along with Hadess' Benedetta to punish Aura Fire's core High and tank Kabuki.
Hadess dealt two kills and four assists but it was Jaypee who shone with an MVP-worthy seven kills and five assists in their 17-13 win in Game 1.
Things went different in the second game ad Aura Fire fielded a more dynamic lineup with extra durability as Esmeralda, Tigreal, and Yu Zhong were revealed to counter Aura Ph's Alice, Baxia, and Jawhead.
The gamble did well for the Indonesians as they did not let Hadess' Ling and Jaypee's Kagura do much influence, combining for just one kill and six deaths.
High redeemed himself in the second game with his Yi Sun-shin dealing seven kills and nine assists in a dominant 20-8 victory to force a third game.
However, the two time MPL champions proved that they still got it as Bennyqt and Jaypee did wonders for a close figth for Aura Ph with crucial plays occurring in the mid and late game.
It was old-timer offlaner Killuash who sealed the deal for the Filipinos as his Chou decided to put the finishing kicks in Aura Fire's basement despite being outnumbered and the loss of their core pieces, while Bennyqt finishing the game with a clean 4/0/0 KDA.
With a Filipino team assured of a seat in the semifinals, it will be rivalry reborn as they will face frenemies ONIC PH in the second round on Sunday.
