Cooper praises ADT, Gayoso after impressive win vs. Maharlika

Jarvey Gayoso scored two goals and assisted two more to put ADT over Maharlika, 5-0. PFL

MANILA - Azkals Development Team coach Scott Cooper has nothing but compliments for his young Azkals team.

That is after a 5-0 domination over Anton del Rosario-led Maharlika Manila FC, which saw Jarvey Gayoso and Chima Uzoka each scored braces inside the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite last November 6.

Cooper cited the icebreaker goal courtesy of the young Ateneo standout, who converted a penalty after Dingdong Fornea clipped Lance Ocampo inside the penalty box.

“My squad played with a bit more calm in the second half so I was pleased with the results,” said Cooper, who has led the team to two wins and two losses in the season.

Hibernian loanee Yrick Gallantes scored the second goal from a Lance Ocampo assist in the 65th minute, expanding the lead further.

Gayoso further scored another goal in stoppage time while assisting both of Uzoka's goals in the 76th and 90th minutes to put him with two goals and two assists before the final whistle.

“He (Gayoso) deserved to be up front with that header in the last game,” said the Irish tactician on his all-around performance. “There’s no doubt that Jarvey’s an attacking man but I believe he’s better if he sees things in front of him rather than waiting on things.”

The Azkals U-22 star played as a left-back in the first two match, before being deployed at the attack, first as a left wingman in the third match and as a striker in the Maharlika match.

The Irishman described the young forward as "versatile."

"He’s shown he is good on set pieces, his shown he can finish with composure, he has a great engine," said the Azkals head coach.
