MANILA--United City may have been crowned the PFL champion, but Kaya Iloilo had the last laugh.

On the night the PFL formally handed United City the silverware, Kaya Iloilo crashed in and scored a 2-1 win over the national champ at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona.

Kenshiro Daniels breached the United City defense first in the 15th minute, converting off an Eric Giganto cross to put Kaya Iloilo ahead.

Carlyle Mitchell made it 2-0 after heading a 38th minute goal off a corner kick.

United City, which rested some of its key players on Monday night, finally got on the scoreboard with an 83rd minute goal from Manny Ott.

However, Mike Casas kept United City from forcing the draw with crucial saves down the stretch.

With the victory, Kaya Iloilo finished the season with a bizarrely invincible stint in which the club went unbeaten with three wins and two draws for 11 points yet it only settled for second place.

On the other hand, while its 12 points amassed after four straight wins to start the short season were enough for the club to clinch the four-peat, United City was denied of a second consecutive unbeaten season and lost for the first time since dropping a 0-3 decision to defunct club Davao Aguilas on Aug. 8, 2018 in Bacolod when it was still known as Ceres Negros.
