Magnolia shocks league-leading TNT for back-to-back wins

MANILA--Magnolia sneaked into the Top 8 in the PBA standings after stunning league leader TNT, 102-92, on Wednesday night at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.

The Hotshots turned things around after holding the Tropang Giga to just 16 points in the second quarter to take a 47-41 halftime lead.

Magnolia, however, only pulled away for good with an 18-5 run that stretched its lead to 14, 100-86, with 1:32 to play in the fourth quarter.

Paul Lee fired 27 points, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal for the now 3-4 Magnolia, which overtook NLEX for the last playoff spot with its second straight victory.

Chris Banchero added 19 points, four rebounds, five assists, and one steal off the bench.

Ray-Ray Parks put up 29 markers, 12 boards, and four dimes for TNT, which despite the loss remains on top of the table at 6-2.

However, it opened an opportunity for Ginebra to get a share of first place with a win over NorthPort later Wednesday.

Jayson Castro added 25 points, one rebound, and four assists for TNT, but no other player scored in double digits for the team.
