NLEX surges past ROS in morning clash

MANILA--NLEX continued its last dash to the PBA playoffs with a 94-74 rout of Rain Or Shine in the league's second morning tip-off on Wednesday at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.

The Road Warriors clobbered the Elasto Painters, 52-35, in the second half to pull away for good even as Jericho Cruz helped the former finish the job with a masterful performance in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Alas banked on a solid three-point shooting and a perfect free throw clip to finish with 18 points alongside six rebounds, two assists, and one steal for NLEX, which has now won back-to-back games and moved up to 3-5 in the standings, momentarily taking the eighth and last quarterfinal spot.

Cruz added 17 points, 12 in the final frame, on 7-of-11 shooting, two rebounds, and three assists.

Rey Nambatac came off the bench to lead ROS, which fell to fourth place at 4-2, with 15 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
