San-En's comeback falls short as Thirdy Ravena suffers 1st B.League loss

MANILA--Thirdy Ravena quickly got his first loss in the B.League on Sunday after Shimane got back at San-En with an 81-74 win at the Yonago Industrial Gymnasium.

Plagued by foul trouble, the NeoPhoenix let the Susanoo Magic open a 72-57 lead with 5:58 left.

San-En rallied back and cut the lead down to four, 78-74, with 21.9 seconds to go.

However, Shimane got past San-En's pressure, leaving Nyika Williams wide open for the dagger slam with 12.6 seconds to play.

De'Mon Brooks made a split from the free throw after getting a steal from Hayato Kawashima with 7.2 seconds remaining for the final tally.

Brooks, who previously played in Germany for Basketball Bundesliga side Bayreuth before moving to Japan, finished with 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting, six rebounds, four assists, and one steal for the Susanoo Magic, who split their two-game home stand against the NeoPhoenix and moved up to 6-6.

Reid Travis added 17 markers on 7-of-12, seven boards, two dimes, and two blocks.

Ryo Abe played a perfect shooting game with 5-of-5 field goals and 1-for-1 from the charity stripe for 13 points with two rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

Stevan Jelovac put up 23 points, 11 rebounds, one block, and one steal for San-En, which fell to 2-10.

Ravena barely missed out on a double-double of his own, making 12 points and eight rebounds with one assist.
