MANILA - Sister teams going at each other and strong teams meeting league rivals are the names of the game.
New and familiar foes alike will meet each other as the four champions from the regional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) drafted their remaining 16 opponents in the One Esports MPL Invitational.
Myanmar's Burmese Ghouls, Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi, Malaysia-Singapore's Todak, and Philippines' Bren Esports picked four each of their possible opponents in a serpentine format.
Burmese Ghouls have landed MPL-MY/SG's Orange Louvre and EVOS SG in the same matchup, while they pitted MPL-PH's semifinalist Execration and MPL Myanmar's current leaders Ronin Esports.
RRQ Hoshi went to a different strategy and pitted M1 Champions EVOS Legends and RRQ's MPL-ID Season 6 opponents Alter Ego against each other.
Genflix Aerowolf, another MPL-ID playoff contender, will meet MPL-PH Season 6 finalists Omega PH as they were drafted by RRQ.
Todak set up a match between Indonesian teams Geek Fam ID and Bigetron Alpha while pitting fellow MY/SG opponents Resurgence and MPL-PH playoff contender Blacklist International.
Bren meanwhile went to a more witty yet interesting match-up and drafted sister teams Aura Fire of Indonesia and MPL-PH Aura PH against each other, while pitting another sister team rivalry in ONIC Esports and ONIC PH.
The 16 drafted teams will go for a best-of-three knockout stage from November 27-29, with one of four teams to qualify in the quarterfinals and set up a match against their drafter.
The MPL Invitational will continue with a two-day playoffs on December 5-6, with the finals a best-of-five series.
