MANILA--Terrafirma countered an explosive third quarter from Blackwater with one of its own in the final frame to steal a 110-101 win in their early Friday PBA battle at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
On pace of stunning the slumping Elite by halftime, the Dyip suddenly conceded 36 points in the third quarter that put the Elite ahead, 81-80, entering the fourth.
Terrafirma recovered in the final 12 minutes, outscoring Blackwater, 30-20, to finally take the victory.
CJ Perez delivered 27 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks for Terrafirma, which finally got its first win of the season but still needs to win its last three game if it wants to get a chance to force a playoff for the eighth quarterfinal spot.
Roosevelt Adams, the first pick of last year's regular draft and sixth overall counting the special Gilas Cadets draft, added 20 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in his best performance in his rookie campaign.
KG Canaleta played a vintage performance of 29 markers, seven rebounds, one assist, and one block for Blackwater, which slipped to 2-6.
Don Trollano added a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds with two assists and one steal.
