ANGELES--TNT is going black on Saturday night!
The Tropang Giga, the designated dark jersey team in its PBA game against the Meralco Bolts, will be sporting its new black jersey with a unique name.
"Unleashing the All Black Giga Mambas tonight!" TNT said in its social media account.
The kit name is an ode to NBA legend Kobe Bryant, whose legacy is being further remembered following his tragic death last January.
It was late in Bryant's career with the Los Angeles Lakers that the team debuted its own black jerseys named "Hollywood Nights".
The Lakers would honor Bryant by bringing back a new set of black kits called the "Black Mamba" jerseys late into the past NBA season.
The Black Mamba kits turned out to be a lucky charm for them as they won every time they wore the jerseys in the NBA Playoffs except in Game 5 of the finals, in which the Miami Heat got to win one more to force Game 6, where the Lakers finally clinched the title.
The Tropang Giga hope that their own Black Mamba getup will be a lucky charm for them as well as they look to snap a two-game slide that kicked them out of the top spot in the team standings.
