MANILA--Filipino footballers Daisuke Sato and Jarvey Gayoso just got company at Muangthong United.

Azkals coach Scott Cooper confirmed on Monday that Mar Diano, another product of the national team's developmental squad, is joining the fabled Thai League 1 outfit too.

“We feel that it’s a good move because Muangthong is a strong club with a big history,” Cooper said.

The 23-year-old defender began his professional career with the then returning Mendiola last year in the PFL.

The University of the East alumnus was later recruited to the Azkals Development Team later in 2019 in time for the Southeast Asian Games, appearing in all of the squad's matches in the group stages, even scoring one against Timor Leste.

“He had a wonderful SEA Games campaign and we feel that this move will only develop his career, help him go from strength to strength and hopefully develop him into an Azkal,” Cooper continued.

Diano stayed with the ADT, which entered the PFL this season as a guest team, for 2020, but come next year, he will take his talents to Metro Bangkok.

"I’ve never been afraid to give young players an opportunity. I think we can be proud," Cooper further said.

He then said that Diano and Gayoso will fly to Bangkok before year-end to officially sign with Muangthong, which is now in eighth place in the T1 table following a 3-1 home win on Saturday against Suphanburi.

“Both players can thrive in the Thai League and it will help them that they are in the same club,” Cooper further commented.
