Bokang Masunyane connects on a high kick that would knock out Rene Catalan. One Championship |
MANILA--South African grappler Bokang Masunyane pulled off a huge shocker at One: Big Bang after finishing Filipino opponent Rene Catalan in style on Friday night at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Known for his ground game, Masunyane showed that he can beat Catalan in his own game, that is, striking, delivering a devastating high kick that knocked his foe out in just 33 seconds.
Masunyane moved up to 8-0 with his first stoppage since his debut in 2016.
Catalan, on the other hand, fell for the second straight time following a string of six consecutive wins.
Meanwhile, Jihin Radzuan survived Bi Nguyen's late push to score a unanimous decision in a late addition to the fight card.
Radzuan dominated Nguyen in the second round with her ground game, which turned out to be just enough as the turned on her jets in Round 3 and even came close to a ground-and-pound knockout only that the former was saved by the bell.
