MANILA--Renowned player agent Danny Espiritu bared on Saturday that Vic Manuel, one of his clients, prefers to be heading to San Miguel among two other teams after he requested a trade with Alaska.

As it turns out, however, the Beermen have been Manuel's preference since he was a teenager.

The burly forward revealed on Sunday night that SMB has been his childhood team.

"Before pa ako maglaro, sobrang paborito kong team ang San Miguel," Manuel told the Sports All In podcast of Coach Beaujing Acot.

He then said that he was amazed by the game play of Olsen Racela, Danny Ildefonso, and Dondon Hontiveros during the peak of their careers in the early 2000's.

"Talagang sinusuportahan ko ang San Miguel dati pa. Nakwento ko na yan kay Boss Danny at Dondon," Manuel further said.

That is why he was happy that he got to team up with Hontiveros when the latter decided to finish his PBA career as an Ace.

"Masaya ako nagabot pa kami sa Alaska," added Manuel, who joined the franchise in 2014, two years after Hontiveros came on.

Eventually, Manuel found himself with Ildefonso too as Alaska tapped the latter as an assistant coach.

But it being his favorite club is not the only reason why Manuel put SMB as a potential landing spot.

"Andoon din si Arwind [Santos]. Kaibigan ko si Arwind," he further reasoned.

While the Beermen, who have a rich championship tradition, have a strong case to end up acquiring Manuel, expect the Phoenix Fuel Masters and the NLEX Road Warriors, Manuel's other two preferred teams, to put up their best shot at trading for him.
