'Auring' pushes PCAP games to Monday

By Ivan Saldajeno

MANILA--Even online chess is not safe to a storm.

The ravage of tropical Storm "Auring" down south prompted the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines to postpone its scheduled All-Filipino Cup matches on Saturday night.

With the internet connection and even the electricity expected to be disrupted in Visayas and Mindanao, PCAP opted to reschedule all the ties that would have taken place later in the day.

"Due to [Tropical Storm] Auring, we will postpone all matches scheduled tonight to Monday, same time," the league announced the new time of the matches.

A blockbuster showdown between Negros and San Juan is the marquee match-up in Round 20 of the season-opening tournament, while Caloocan battles Camarines in the big-time battle in Round 21.

The Predators are sitting on top of the Northern Conference standings at 17-2, while the Loadmanna Knights are not far behind at 16-2 with their tie against the Toledo Trojans yet to be finally settled.

Meanwhile, the Kingsmen and the Soaring Eagles are tied with the Iloilo Kisela Knights on top of the Southern Conference standings at 16-3.
