MANILA—Cagayan De Oro could be the team to beat in the inaugural staging of the VisMin Super Cup.

The team to be known as the Rafters officially made its way to the newly founded regional basketball league over the weekend.

But this far in the preseason, CDO wanted to make its presence felt by announcing a core made up of former PBA players.

Former PBA Most Valuable Player Jay-Jay Helterbrand headlines the Rafters, marking a return to club basketball play after a stint with the Imus Bandera in the MPBL last season.

Carlo Lastimosa, another explosive guard, has been revealed as well to have signed up with CDO.

Meanwhile, Mac Baracael and JR Cawaling, who starred for Far Eastern University in the UAAP during the late 2000's, are set for a reunion as they too join CDO.

Streak shooter Roider Cabrera and towering center Jason Ballesteros have also been included to the roster.

The Rafters have yet to officially reveal the rest of their lineup at the moment, although several social media reports surfaced that some more former PBA players have been signed on.

The said team will be part of the Mindanao Conference of the VisMin Super Cup, joining Zamboanga, Pagadian, Sindangan, and Roxas.

The aforementioned clubs will clash in an intra-conference bubble tournament set for May in Zamboanga or right after the end of the Visayas leg in Alcantara, Cebu.

The Visayas champion will battle the Mindanao winner in the league's inaugural championship series later in the year.
