MANILA--Jackie Buntan pulled off a huge shocker on Friday night, beating Nat Jaroonsak at her own game at One: Fists of Fury at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
In a three-round muay thai contest, the Filipino-American prospect showed that even those not from Thailand can excel in the sport, stunning Jaroonsak, also known as Wondergirl Fairtex, with a left hook late into Round 1 that knocked her down.
Jaroonsak was able to get up in the eight count, but she struggled to recover from the knockdown as Buntan continued to deliver a masterful performance the rest of the way en route to the unanimous decision win.
Successful in her One Super Series debut, Buntan moved up to 21-5 overall.
