MANILA--Robin Catalan suffered a tough defeat in his comeback fight, dropping a submission loss to Japanese opponent Ryuto Sawada at One: Unbreakable 3 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

In the previously played showdown that only premiered on Friday night, Catalan, who fought for the first time since his sensational knockout of Gustavo Balart on Nov. 8, 2019, was still putting up a gallant stand against Sawada in the early goings.

However, after an injury timeout due to an accidental low blow, Sawada quickly stomped his dominance, taking Catalan to the ground.

Catalan tried to prevent Sawada's submission attempt, but the latter forced an opening for a rear naked choke that led to the tapout with only 41 seconds left in the very first round.

Sawada moved up to 14-5 with his eighth submission victory, while Catalan fell to 10-7.
