MANILA—Vic Manuel somehow got what he wished for.
The embattled forward is now heading to Phoenix, one of his three preferred trade destinations, after the PBA trade committee approved on Tuesday a blockbuster swap with Alaska that also shook up this year's draft.
However, it was not exactly how Manuel envisioned as the transfer happened a week after the Fuel Masters shipped Calvin Abueva to the Magnolia Hotshots.

Interestingly enough, the number six pick that Phoenix got from Magnolia in the Abueva trade is now heading to Alaska in the Manuel trade.
The Aces also got Brian Heruela and the second round pick the Fuel Masters acquired from the NLEX Road Warriors in the Cyrus Baguio trade in 2017, which is slated at number 16 in the regular draft as well as the Fuel Masters' 2022 first round pick.
Phoenix got Alaska's default first and second round picks, slated at numbers seven and 19, respectively.
This means the Aces moved up in the draft order in both the first two rounds, which could be of great help as they begin their rebuild anchored upon new main man Jeron Teng.
Meanwhile, the Fuel Masters may have just found their replacement forward for Abueva in Manuel.
