MANILA--The Philippine Sports Commission has moved to postpone all the training of the national athletes in the "NCR Plus" mega region after the national government placed the said area, consisting of Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite, under the most stringent enhanced community quarantine for the Holy Week.

In an advisory released on Sunday, Acting Deputy Executive Director Reina Evangelista called on the national sports associations whose athletes under their fold are undergoing their group training in the aforementioned provinces to break up their camps following a spike in COVID-19 cases.

"The NSA's are encouraged to practice online individual training and no group activities shall be conducted," the advisory reads.

Evangelista then called on the national athletes to "ensure proper compliance with relevant precautionary measures of the DOH and IATF issued health and safety protocol at all times."

Under ECQ, all kinds of sports and fitness activity outside their homes are not allowed, although the DOH has allowed early morning jogs this time.

Some Olympic hopefuls are undergoing training bubbles inside the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, a city inside the NCR Plus area.

Gilas Pilipinas is also doing a training bubbles inside the said academy, which is within the National University campus in the said city.

On when they can resume their bubble will depend on the current developments regarding the pandemic.
