James De Los Santos now aims to better 2020 performance after 22nd gold for 2021

MANILA—James De Los Santos is on track of surpassing his gold medal haul last year after winning his 22nd gold for 2021 by ruling the Athlete's eTournament World Series #3.

The world number one e-kata player has made it into a vow on Thursday after announcing his plans to go beyond 36 golds following his gold medal win.

"[I am] aiming to surpass my record from last year. [I am] feeling pumped!" De Los Santos exclaimed.

The Filipino karateka first beat Ruud Karsten of Netherlands, 25.4-20.74, in the semifinals.

De Los Santos then beat Matias Domont of Switzerland, 25.32-24.84, in the final.

After winning his 22nd gold in a span of five months, De Los Santos can surpass his 36-gold collection last year in just a couple of months.
