MANILA—Skateboarder Margielyn Didal is set to book a place in the Tokyo Olympics according to the Skateboarding and Roller Sports Association of the Philippines or simply Skate Pilipinas.

Skate Pilipinas said early Saturday that Didal's semifinal finish in the Street World Championships in Rome was enough to earn her an Olympic berth.

"The official announcement of qualified skaters will only be released after the World Championships Finals in Rome, but Skate Pilipinas would like to be the first to announce that our very own Margielyn Didal has earned a slot for the Tokyo Olympics," Skate Pilipinas said in a statement.

Didal is currently ranked 13th in the world pending the results of the SWC, well within the Top 16 cutoff.

Didal finished in 17th place in the SWC, but with possibly only a little effect to the world rankings expected, Skate Pilipinas decided to make the announcement.

The final world rankings for the Olympic cutoff will be released on June 30.

Once formalized, Didal, the reigning Asian Games and Southeast Games skateboarding street champion, will become the 10th Filipino to enter the Tokyo Olympics.
