New Kaya Iloilo Graham Harvey has even been hands-on in training the club for its AFC Champions League qualifying clash with Shanghai Port. Kaya FC-Iloilo |
MANILA--In his first few days as the new Kaya Iloilo coach, Graham Harvey has been active in sharing his system to the longtime Philippine football powerhouse.
In fact, he even showed how hands-on he can be by even joining the club in a scrimmage during its training camp in Suphanburi, Thailand on Sunday night.
"It's been a long time since I've done that," said Harvey, who was once a player in the semi-pro ranks in England during his college days.
The training match was part of Kaya Iloilo's preparations for the AFC Champions League qualifiers, and despite the short time he spent on the pitch, he is glad that he further lent a hand in the club's gear-up.
"I'm just happy to help," continued Harvey, who was once a part of the coaching staff for the Guamanian national team.
He further said, "The boys did really well in the second half. They listened to what Hoshi (Yu Hoshide) and myself asked them to do with the ball. They managed to score some good goals in the second half."
Kaya Iloilo is looking to clinch the last spot in Group F, but standing in the way is Chinese squad Shanghai Port.
Both clubs will face off in the qualifying match on Wednesday night.
"I'm really looking forward... to prepare as best as we can for whichever Shanghai team turns up to play us," Harvey further said, adding that the next training sessions will be devoted for off-ball plays.
